Dewey Beach
There is no boardwalk, but bars, restaurants, and shops are just one street from the beach. Dewey Beach is less upscale offering more casual bars and restaurants than Rehoboth Beach.
38-75 Brewing
38-75 Brewing is easy to miss. Located in the back of Gary’s Dewey Beach Grill, the small brewery has their own entrance along the side of Gary’s. The 6 person bar with a few small tables has 3 38-75 Brewing beers on draft along with 16 guest taps.
Dewey Beer Co.
Just down the street from 38-75 Brewing is Dewey Beer Co. Brewery and Kitchen. The unique menu features appetizers, salads, Lo Mein, sandwiches, and entrees. The 12 beers on tap consist of IPAs, sours, and a single stout. Undecided on which beer to choose? The Sour Suicide is a mix of all 6 sours on draft. We recommend the Secret Machine – Parfait, a sour Berliner Weisse brewed with strawberries, blueberries, and granola tasting exactly like a yogurt parfait.
Rehoboth Beach
Unlike other beaches, the majority of the boardwalk at Rehoboth Beach runs perpendicular to the ocean. Be sure to wander through the small alleyways filled with unique, artsy shops and boutiques. Along the beach, Funland has games and rides for all ages.
Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant
With many locations, Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant didn’t disappoint. There is a large menu and 16 beers on draft. Choose from 2 predetermined flights: Got Hops and Summertime is Easy or make your own flight of 4 – 4oz. pours.
Revelation Craft Brewing Company
About 1.5 miles from Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant is Revelation Craft Brewing Company. The tap room is smaller, but there is plenty of covered outdoor seating. Visiting on a Saturday, we enjoyed the live music while we sampled our flights from the 16 draft beers on tap.
Lewes Beach
Big Oyster Brewery
Big Oyster Brewery is big with a large dining area, outdoor patio that can be enclosed due to inclement weather, and bar. The menu consists of appetizers, soup, salad, oysters, sandwiches, mac & cheese bakes, and entrees. We recommend the Strawberry Banana Dreamsicle IPA brewed with bananas, strawberries, and vanilla beans and Shades of Gold, a sour fruit ale brewed with wildflower honey, vanilla, apricots, and peaches.
Crooked Hammock Brewing
There are a lot of good vibes at Crooked Hammock Brewing and live music Fridays 9:00pm – 12:00am, Saturdays 12:00pm – 7:00pm and again 9:00pm – 12:00am, and Sundays 4:00pm – 7:00pm. The menu consists of appetizers, salads, burgers, sandwiches, and entrees. There 9 draft beers and a small cocktail list. We recommend the tequila infused with watermelon, mango, pineapple, and ginger from the cocktail list.
There is plenty of seating at the large bar, dining area, and outdoor patio. Additional seating is scattered throughout the lawn among ping pong tables, corn hole boards, and a playground. Every Saturday 12:00pm – 3:00pm throughout the summer interact with exotic animals from Barn Hill Preserve.
Milton
Dogfish Head Craft Brewery
There isn’t much to do in the town of Milton, but making the trek to visit Dogfish Head Craft Brewery and Distillery was worth it. Beers exclusive to this location of the 20+ available are written in blue on the chalkboard. Cocktail and spirit flights are available in the rear of the brewery at the distillery counter.
The 12 ton, 44 feet high, steel and wood Steampunk Tree House was originally created for the Burning Man festival in 2007. After the festival in the Nevada desert ended, the tree house was posted for sale online. Five Ton Crane sold the tree house to Dogfish Head for $1 USD with the promise it would be given a good home. It is now used as a staff conference room, complete with a wood stove, stained glass windows, and a telescope. Tours including access to the Steampunk Tree House are offered 11:00am – 5:00pm every hour.
