Travel Tales and Brewery Trails:
The Traveling Gingerbread is a place for us to share tips on traveling to the fullest, fun facts, itineraries, and where to find the best craft beer.
The Creation of the Traveling Gingerbread
In Tokyo, we smiled every time we saw someone talking into a large, animated phone case. We had to buy one. Having an obsolete iPhone 5, the selection was limited. We purchased a gingerbread off a neglected rack in Shinjuku and The Traveling Gingerbread was born.
About Us
We took our first trip in 2013 only a couple short months after meeting each other, unaware we would become lifelong travel partners. Living and working full-time in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, we travel as much as our vacation days and finances allow. We cram each adventure with culture, tours, new experiences, and local breweries. We enjoy being outdoors, hiking, kayaking, mini golfing, snorkeling, bicycling, and exploring new cities.
We can’t walk by an Irish pub without stopping in for a pint of Guinness. In 2019, we brewed our first beer and were hooked, although, we have no intentions of brewing more than small batches. We’ll continue our self appointed roles of professional testers and finding craft beer trails.
Our love of Thai and Mexican food is equally divided, but we have an insatiable love for all forms of dumplings. Most nights we cook dinner together, experimenting with new flavors and cuisines. Stephanie isn’t a true vegetarian, but rarely eats meat, while Mitch is a carnivore.
We try but cannot keep up with the continuous stream of new restaurants and breweries, concerts, sporting events, festivals, and events in Pittsburgh.
Our newest challenge: visit all 50 of the United States together before reaching the age 50.
Stephanie
Stephanie enjoys running and has completed a full and many half marathons. She also actively practices yoga. After a day of managing the digital and technology needs of a commercial real estate office, she spends many evenings curled up on the couch with a cup of tea and a book, researching our next adventure, or crafting.
Mitch
Mitch is on an ice hockey team and is a born and raised Pittsburgh sports fan. Per his request, our wedding colors were black and gold. He is a movie buff of all genres. In addition to his full time job as a Multimedia Marketing Specialist, Mitch does freelance video producing, editing, directing and if asked nicely, photography.
